Our story
We believe a handwritten letter can do what technology cannot — carry warmth, intention, and the unmistakable feeling that someone took time just for you.
Our mission
Letters from Ruth was born from a simple but profound belief: that millions of people — in hospitals, nursing homes, and homebound across our communities — deserve to know they are not forgotten. In a world of screens and notifications, we mobilize volunteers to do something radical: pick up a pen and write.
The name "Ruth" honors the spirit of steadfast loyalty and compassion found in the biblical story of Ruth — a woman who refused to abandon those who needed her. That same spirit drives every letter we send.
What we believe
We believe every person deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued — regardless of age, health, or circumstance.
We lead with empathy. Every letter is an act of care, written with the recipient's heart in mind.
We are stronger together. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, united by a shared desire to give.
No app. No algorithm. Just a pen, paper, and a willing heart. The simplest things are often the most powerful.
We honor the dignity of every recipient. Our letters are personal, respectful, and written with intention.
Like Ruth herself, we show up consistently — because the people we serve deserve to know we'll keep coming back.
Whether you want to volunteer, partner with us, or simply learn more — we'd love to hear from you.
